Latest update from the World Martial Arts Games Thailand.
Tues saw a slow start to the kickboxing with the majority of day with mu.ay Thai fighters. Danny Swanwick NMA first and youngest fighter was up against a tough fighter from pallestine.
Weds it was all action kickboxing with all NMA competitors in action and I am pleased to report that 4 got through to the final of the imgc world games. Unfortunately for jade dissapointment was around the corner as they we're no competitors in her age and weight class. Earlier in the week we were told that she would be competing but today we found out this was not to be. Jade had travelled with the rest of the GB team to compete on a daily basis but today found nobody to fight.
Her disappointment was then made up with Danny having to rematch after a controvercial semi final loss against strong kid from pallestine. Danny clearly won the first fight but made no mistake again in the re match. Danny was faced with a fight against an older competitor from the GB squad in the final Jordan dent from Cleveland aged 14. Danny fought temendously with grit skil and determination and I am delighted to announce the first gold medal for NMA.
Next up after sailing through to the final was regis Sugden against another GB fighter Taylor hunt. Regis was relentless and never have his opponent a minute giving away considerable height regis went to work with blistering fast hands and constant pressure another gold for NMA....
Could you believe it we predicted it chad was up against one of the only other juniors to beat him on 2 previous occasions. This time chad had prepared for full contact knowing that fate would bring him and his closest rival in his age and weight class. Patrick lee from Wales weighed in and competed in the same weight class. It was only right they should meet in the final.
Chad lived up to his nickname 2 slick as he went about his work in clinical fashion. All the techniques and ring craft was required to dominate such a great opponent such as Patrick.
That is exactly what he did kicks to head and body came reigning on the welsh boy and when it came to the physical stuff chaf matched him and have he some more for good measure as he totally dominated every round.
This was his destiny to win in such dramatic fashion against his biggest rival in the uk. Chad won gold!!!
Next up for NMA in the final was the much improved
Lewis Fallon the question was how much had he improved. Like his club mates from NMA along the way they have picked up many admirers from lots of diff countries. Lewis was also asked to compete in a heavier weight cat as there were more competitors and he delivered big time. Probably improving by 60% Lewis commanded the action but mostly on his back foot as his opponent was physically bigger Lewis went to work and caught his opponent with several kicks to the head. He used his jab to good effect and worked the body aswell turning his pooppent on several occasions giving him nothing to hit. Lewis was declared the unam winner another gold for the NMA team.
4 golds and 1 who did not get the chance. As a result the NMA team have already received invitations to compete in Ukraine phillupines and new Zealand.
Wow what an experience!
